40 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
In the year 1963, engineer and businessman Hanns Loersch entered the photo industry by selling plastic slide frames. He founded the Hanns Loersch GmbH & Co. KG shortly thereafter.
The company developed and manufactured plastic slide frames and framing machines. The Quickpoint brand was born and the company quickly grew to become the third-largest manufacturer in the world.
Initialy located in Hüls, the company moved to its current location in 1972 and established an American subsidiary in Allentown, Pennsylvania in 1978.
When engineer Hanns Loersch became frustrated with the inadequate packaging available for his slide frames, he seized an opportunity and directed the company to develop air pillow films.
The films were the first on the market that already contained the basic structures of the air pillows wrapped on the roll. This in turn, made it possible to vastly simplify the technology of the manufacturing machines. And, although ridiculed at first, this innovation has since become a standard.
As digital photography grew in popularity, the company's emphasis increasingly shifted to packaging systems, aided in no small part by their 40 years of experience with custom-built machines.
Today, the Hanns Loersch GmbH & Co.KG is the only company in the world that develops and manufactures both the air pillow machines and films inhouse. The result: reliable, high-quality products that are ideally matched to one another.
The company's decision to withdraw from the photo business completely in 2009, was accompanied by a reorganization of the Hanns Loersch GmbH & Co.KG: The company, operating as "LPack", rebranded itself as "Airworks" - with an increased breadth of product and an innovation sealing technology called
